Cocks fight gets out of hand: owner killed

A cock deployed in India for cockfighting killed its owner in such a fight. The animal was equipped with a knife about seven centimeters long, attached to the paw, and injured the man on his crotch trying to prevent the cock from escaping. The animal wanted to run off right before the fight.

The man lost a lot of blood from the stabbing incident. He died on his way to the hospital, tells a local policeman from the state of Telangana, where the bizarre accident took place. The rooster in question was held for a while at the police station, but was later taken to a chicken farm. The animal will soon appear in court as evidence.

The victim had organized the cockfight with fifteen other men in the village of Lothunur. Local police are looking for the rest of the group. They could be accused of manslaughter, illegal gambling and organizing a cockfight.

As in our country, cockfights are banned in India, but are still common in rural areas in the south and east of the country, especially around the Hindu festival Sankranti in January. In fighting, where the animals sometimes get a knife or other weapon attached to the leg, usually only one of the two roosters can survive.
