The Cohen brothers will stop making films together — according to composer Carter Birwell, Ethan (63) is tired of the filming process, and Joel (66) will continue to work on film. The duo‘s last collaborative film was an anthology about the Wild West — “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs” for Netflix. After that, Ethan took a creative break, and Joel went on to create the first independent project, “Macbeth”.
Its premiere is expected before the end of the year. At the same time, Burwell hopes that Ethan will return to the director’s chair in the future.
All in all, the brothers have a huge bunch of ready-made scripts that are just lying right now. The brothers released their first collaborative film in 1984 — “Just Blood”.
Since then, they have shot 18 paintings together, for 16 of which Carter Birwell wrote music. Among the most famous tapes are “The Big Lebowski”, “Fargo”, “Old Men Don‘t belong here” and “Iron Snack”.
