Colin Powell, former US Secretary of State, no longer calls himself Republican, he said Sunday in an interview with CNN. “Im just a citizen who has voted Republican and Democratic throughout his career.”
Powell criticized Republican MPs who did not oppose the President, because he said they wanted to protect their own political careers. “We need people who are telling the truth,” said the former minister.
Powell was Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of George W. Bush (Republican), security advisor under Ronald Reagan (Republican), but also held a senior position under Bill Clinton (Democrat). In the presidential election last year, Powell supported the Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
