Compensation for migrants Qatar remains out for now, KNVB wants action from FIFA

With a few weeks to go until the start of the World Cup in Qatar, it remains unclear whether there will be compensation for the families of the migrant workers who died building the stadiums. The KNVB wants clarity and takes action.
Last Wednesday, both the KNVB and the fellow unions received a letter from FIFA, the content of that letter is held inside chambers by the KNVB. What is clear, however, is that it does not provide enough clarification. โ€œThe letter answers all our questions, but those answers are not satisfactory for all of us,โ€ said a spokesperson.
In cooperation with a number of other Western European unions, the KNVB is busy creating a compensation fund for the victims families. โ€œWe believe that the victims or relatives should be compensated by those responsible for this.โ€ Next week, the European unions will meet to discuss the situation.
Ever since the award of the World Cup to Qatar in 2010, there has been a great deal of criticism about the violation of human rights in the country. As you know, both FIFA and Qatar talk about โ€œonlyโ€ three people killed building the stadiums and infrastructure, while human rights organizations such as Amnesty talk about thousands of victims.
