Real Madrids Copa del Rey adventure is over sensational enough after the 16th finals. Thirdedivisionist CD Alcoyano dragged an extension out of the fire against De Koninklijke, came up with ten men and won.
Trainer Zinedine Zidane set up a B-team at Estadio Campo Municipal El Collao. The reigning Primera División Champion had his hands full on the Segunda División B club, but he got a head start just before rest. The opening hit was made entirely of Brazilian origin: veteran Marcelo swung the ball in front of the ball, Éder Militão headed it in.

For a long time it seemed that Real Madrid had enough of that narrow margin, but De Koninklijke choked on Alcoyanos resilience. Invaller José Solbes was in the right place after a corner ten minutes before time and left Andriy Lunin without a chance: 0-1.
Real Madrid had to dabble for half an hour extra and even went down completely. Ramón López Olivan got red, but the ten of Alcoyano managed to make 2-1. Juan Antonio Casanova Vidal made five minutes before time the winning and will forever be reminded of 20 January 2021.
