Crytek, as promised, released a large-scale patch for console versions of the Crysis remaster – with him the shooter has full compatibility with PS5 and Xbox Series, as well as for the first time on consoles added the “Ascent” mission. Each version has three modes – “performance”, “quality”, and “ray tracing”. PS5 Performance — 1080p at 60 FPS Quality — 1800p at 60 FPS Reitraising — 1440p at 60 FPS.
Xbox Series X Performance — 1080p at 60 FPS Quality — 2160p (4K) at 60 FPS Reitracing — 1440p at 60 FPS. Xbox Series S Performance — 1080p at 60 FPS Quality — 2160p (4K) at 30 FPS Reitracing — 1080p at 30 FPS.
Upgrade. In Digital Foundry managed to study the pre-release version of the patch for both Xbox and news, rather, distressing.
On Series X in 4K, the game consistently produces from 50 to 60 frames per second. On the screen with VRR will be fine, but on the standard image is simply unstable.
In the performance mode (1080p at 60 FPS), the shooter is much more often given out the treasured 60 FPS, but in complex scenes can fall below. With reatracing everything is scarce – it shows the worst results and constantly falls well below the stated performance.
Sometimes the falls are so big that even the VRR won‘t save. The Series S is still worse: in performance mode stable 40-50 FPS, in 4K – and even less.
All the more surprising that with raitreising the game gives out surprisingly good performance. But the last two modes work with a limit of 30 FPS.
In general, despite the problems, the updated versions of Crysis in DF are considered the best. But experts surprised that in complex scenes, where on consoles of the outgoing generation there were problems due to a weak processor, there were problems on the nextgen with a valid powerful CPU.
Specific difference between the modes developers do not call, but it is worth making a reservation that all improvements occur through backward compatibility – these are not native versions of the game for consoles of the new generation. We are waiting for a detailed analysis from Digital Foundry.
