Arnaut Danjuma is confident in a place in national coach Louis van Gaal‘s World Cup squad. But because the Villarreal striker was injured for four months, he initially focuses on his club.
Danjuma was regularly in the selection of the Dutch team, but only had to take the place after a serious injury. “There has always been contact (with Van Gaal, ed.), but if you don’t play at your club for four months, it makes sense at Van Gaal that you‘re not in the Dutch team either. It is a very logical choice. I want to do my thing at the club,” says Danjuma at Rondo at Ziggo Sport.
“I am very confident, because without trust, there is no point in living to such a tournament. For me, it was due to injuries that I was not there instead of something else. It’s important for me to perform at the club and then I hope to be eligible again. The coming months will be important for me to prove myself. I have no problem with that either,” says Danjuma.
So far, Danjuma has played six international matches, scoring once.
