Blue Ivy Carter, the 8-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, is going to read out a new audiobook. It‘s Hair Love, based on Matthew A. Cherry’s Oscar-winning animated film.
Cherry herself announced the news on Thursday on social media. Hair Love tells the story of an African-American father who learns for the first time to do his daughter‘s hair. Leading critics praised the short film for its important morals and its significance for children. “It’s a way to boost both pride and understanding,” wrote Variety reviewer Peter Debruge in February when the film was released.
The oldest member of Beyoncé and rapper Jay-Z will tell the story again in the form of an audiobook. Blue Ivy has already received numerous awards. Among other things, she won a BET award for the song Brown Skin Girl. On that she can be heard together with her mother, WizKid and Saint Jhn.
