Davina Michelle performs during Song Contest

Davina Michelle and Thekla Reuten form the interval act of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest. During their performance, water is central, as the Dutch organisation announced on Friday.

Almost two years ago Davina was asked to write a song in which water is central. โ€œWater connects, is resilient and is inextricably part of the Netherlandsโ€, says the singer. โ€œTogether with Eurovision, we have worked on a unique act, in which these characteristics are central. I wrote the song Sweet Water in which water is used as a metaphor for something that connects people in the world. We are all different and live in different environments, but water we all need and bring us all together.โ€ For the performance the last few months, recordings were made at the Delta Works.

Also actress Thekla Reuten gets a unique role during the show and ‘symbolizes the power of water’. The past few months have already been widely rehearsed.

With the announcement of the interval-act of the first semifinal, almost the entire side-programme of the song festival is now known. Other performances include Duncan Laurence, Eefje de Visser, the trio Afrojack, Glennis Grace and Wulf and a number of former winners.

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place from 18 to 22 May in Rotterdam Ahoy.
