Davina Michelle and Thekla Reuten form the interval act of the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest. During their performance, water is central, as the Dutch organisation announced on Friday.
Almost two years ago Davina was asked to write a song in which water is central. “Water connects, is resilient and is inextricably part of the Netherlands”, says the singer. “Together with Eurovision, we have worked on a unique act, in which these characteristics are central. I wrote the song Sweet Water in which water is used as a metaphor for something that connects people in the world. We are all different and live in different environments, but water we all need and bring us all together.” For the performance the last few months, recordings were made at the Delta Works.
Also actress Thekla Reuten gets a unique role during the show and ‘symbolizes the power of water’. The past few months have already been widely rehearsed.
With the announcement of the interval-act of the first semifinal, almost the entire side-programme of the song festival is now known. Other performances include Duncan Laurence, Eefje de Visser, the trio Afrojack, Glennis Grace and Wulf and a number of former winners.
The Eurovision Song Contest will take place from 18 to 22 May in Rotterdam Ahoy.
