De Jong about the importance of the Nations League: ‘Match against Poland is a bit of everything’

Frenkie de Jong is looking forward to the upcoming Nations League games against Poland (Thursday) and Belgium (Sunday). The FC Barcelona midfielder sees the matches as an ultimate test and also wants to make it to the final round of the tournament at all costs.
โ€œThe match against Poland is a bit of everything,โ€ says De Jong at the Orange press moment prior to the match. โ€œOf course, we need to prepare ourselves well for the World Cup, in which this game already counts as a dress rehearsal. But of course, we also just want to be first in our pool. With Poland and Belgium, we are now getting two good opponents, so those are great measurement moments for us.โ€
In the match against Poland, De Jong meets a teammate. Robert Lewandowski has been playing with Barcelona since this summer and his Dutch team mate is very happy about that. โ€œHes a nice person with a good mentality. Someone who is always working hard to improve. He is strong and can hold a ball, but he is also very technical. He scores a lot of goals and that is of course very important to us at Barcelona. Im happy to have him on our team.โ€
In any case, Frenkie de Jong will also focus a lot on herself in the coming period. He wants to be in optimal condition for the coming period with Barcelona and the Dutch national team. โ€œOf course, you always want to get fitter and get in even better shape. Im trying to keep working hard so that I arrive at the World Cup in the best possible condition.โ€
