Nyck de Vries will also be active next season on behalf of Mercedes in Formula E. The 25-year-old driver will represent the German racing stable together with the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne in the electric motorsport class.
The last championship went hectic. After six of the fourteen races, a forced coronastop followed, after which the program was shortened and a few months later in Berlin.
De Vries did not play a significant role with an eleventh place, by the way a position higher than compatriot Robin Frijns. Nevertheless, his first season in the E-class offers enough perspective for a longer collaboration. Teammate Vandoorne became second in the final ranking.
Strong debut season
“ We had a strong debut season together, although it was a bit of a strange year,” says De Vries, born in Sneek. “I look forward to what hopefully will become a more normal season in 2021.”
In a report from last year, Nyck de Vries tells about his ambitions to be in Formula 1:
the end of November, De Vries and Vandoorne will be ready for the next season as test days in Valencia will be on the programme. On January 16, the first race weekend of 2021 is scheduled in Chile.
“ I feel very comfortable in the team and hope that we can use the foundation we have laid together to achieve more success next season”, says De Vries. “And I hope I can also get to know all the new tracks where I havent been able to drive so far.”
