De Vrij drops out injured at Dutch national team

Stefan de Vrij is injured and dropped out of the Dutch national team. The defender of Internazionale has left the training camp of the Dutch Team and misses the Nations League-duels with Poland and Italy.

Interim-bond coach Dwight Lodeweges does not call for a replacement for De Vrij. As a result, the Dutch National Team still consists of 23 players.

De Vrij was named best defender of Serie A last season and finally seemed to be able to count on a base place in the Dutch national team. Competitors Matthijs de Ligt (shoulder surgery) and Daley Blind (heart problems) are missing from the squad.

Also behind the name of Denzel Dumfries is a question mark. The PSV-rightback was missing on Thursday during the final training for the game with Poland because his partner is about to give birth.

It is not known when Dumfries will return to Orange. The PSV’er will have to undergo a coronation test before his return and will have to wait for the result first.

AZ-leader Teun Koopmeiners, who is part of the Dutch Junior squad, trained with the Dutch national team on Thursday.
