Two tornadoes in Wuhan China and the eastern Jiangsu province have killed at least seven people. In addition, hundreds have been injured and numerous houses have been destroyed, reports the Chinese state agency Xinhua.
In Wuhan, in Hubei Province, six people were killed and 218 injured when a tornado raged through the city around 08:30 (local time). At least 27 houses were completely destroyed and another 130 houses were damaged. Two construction cranes were also blown around.
Another tornado struck the city of Shengze, killing a person and wounding 21 people. According to the authorities, the electricity grid and several factories were damaged there. In Jiangsu, tornadoes are more common at the end of spring and in the beginning of summer.
