Death toll due to explosion at mosque in Bangladesh rises to 11

The death toll from yesterday’s explosion at a mosque in Bangladesh has risen to eleven. The explosion was in the city of Narayanganj, not far from the capital Dhaka.

In the mosque it was crowded because of the Friday evening prayer when things went wrong. The cause of the explosion was said to be an underground gas pipeline near the house of prayer.

There are dozens of wounded who are in hospital with severe burns. On images distributed via social media, the victims lie in rows on the floor of the hospital.
