The doctor who suffered severe burns from a fire in a Romanian hospital on Saturday, killing ten coronapatics, is celebrated in his country as a hero. The doctor put his life on the line to save patients from the intensive care unit.
Six people eventually survived the sea of flames. “I out of my respect for the heroic doctor who showed courage and will to sacrifice himself to save patients,” said Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban Sunday.
The ten people who died were on a ventilator at the hospital in Piatra Neamt. It concerns seven men and three women aged between 67 and 86, according to the hospital.
The Romanian doctor Catalin Denciu has now been transferred to a hospital in Belgium. He has second and third degree burns over 40 percent of his body and is being treated at a military hospital in Neder-over-Heembeek that specializes in burns.
