Georgia imprisoned Georgian ex-president Micheil Saakashvili must be treated in a hospital because his state of health has deteriorated. He has trouble moving and it‘s hard for him to speak, said his doctor according to Russian news agencies RIA and TASS. Saakashvili was a time on hunger strike. In recent years he has lived in the Netherlands, his wife’s homeland.
The prowestern politician was busted after he recently returned to Georgia. He was sentenced there in 2018 to six years of abuse of power when he was president. Saakashvili‘s doctor said he discussed Saakashvili’s condition with doctors in prison where he is being detained not far from the capital Tbilisi.
Saakashvili went back to Georgia to “save the country.” He left there in 2013 when a rival came to power. He has held top positions in Ukraine in recent years and also holds a Ukrainian passport.
