People in Bangladesh have once again died from the injuries they sustained on Friday in a gas explosion. The death toll is now at 24. A total of 37 people with burns were admitted to hospital as a result of the explosion
One of the deceased is a 7 year old boy. His father is in critical condition in the hospital. Some of the victims have burns on more than 90 percent of their bodies.
The explosion took place in the Pashchim Talla Baitus Salam mosque in the city of Narayanganj, 16 kilometres from the capital Dhaka. Because of the Friday prayer dozens of people were present.
The cause was probably a leak in a gas line. The air conditioning in the mosque was on, so windows and doors were closed. This caused the gas to accumulate in the mosque. Six air conditioners also exploded, caused by the gas explosion.
