Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos become temporary Xbox exclusives

Microsoft announced that two Dolby technologies became temporary exclusives of the Xbox ecosystem for two years. Atmos for spatial sound is already available on Xbox Series and Xbox One, and owners of the new Xbox headset can use the setting for free until September 30. An improved HDR in the form of Vision is due to appear on the Xbox Series by the end of 2021.

It is unlikely that Sony seriously can be interested in Dolby Atmos because of its own Tempest audio chip in the PlayStation 5, but with the HDR format Vision, the situation may be different. In any case, its interesting that Microsoft decided to make a similar deal with Dolby.
