Dries Mertens can look for a new club: Napoli does not make a new proposal

Dries Mertens has already played his last game for Napoli — as expected. Chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis confirms to Radio Kiss Kiss that they will no longer make a new proposal to the Red Devil in Naples.
Mertens dropped out of his contract in Italy this summer. In recent weeks, the 35-year-old attacker was still sitting around the table with Napoli, but the two sides did not reach an agreement. The conversations have now completely stopped, says De Laurentiis to Radio Kiss Kiss. Napolis preses gave the radio station an interview that will be broadcast later, but has already been partly leaked.
Napoli first offered Mertens a contract where he would earn 1.4 million a year. This was followed by an offer of 2.5 per year. However, the former player of FC Utrecht and PSV refused. After all, in recent years, he has earned 4.5 million a year. De Laurentiis now states that Napoli will not make a new offer.
In the summer of 2013, Mertens left PSV for an Italian adventure. Mertens grew into an icon at Napoli. No one has ever scored more goals for the club than Mertens. In 397 matches, the Belgian hit a goal no less than 148 times.
