Droste lands on Iceland after LinkedIn call: ‘Wanted something different, this is different’

Wout Droste is going to leave the Dutch football fields behind them after thirteen seasons. The right back was allowed to leave at Go Ahead Eagles and takes on the adventure in Iceland, he confirms against TC/Tubantia.
Droste was told that Go Ahead would not renew its expiring contract and made a call via LinkedIn. Former Heracles Almelo teammate Renze Fij, currently active for the Norwegian Sogndal IL, turned out to have the golden tip. โ€œHe came with Akranes, my new club. Iceland is not that far, more than three hours of flight and it‘s western,โ€ said Droste, who said earlier that he would like to play football in Asia. โ€œBut I see it as a similar beautiful adventure. I wanted something different, Iceland is different.โ€
32-year-old Tukker signed with Akranes until September 2022, which is in the middle of the competition and is at the bottom after ten rounds of play. โ€œI have in my contract that I may be able to leave if we relegate, but I prefer to stay as long as possible.โ€ That he will be in Iceland in the middle of the coldest and darkest months of the year does not hurt him. โ€œAll I need is a winter jacket, but I’
m sure I can get it there.โ€
