Dutch touch to Songfestival entry Azerbaijan

The Songfestival entry of Azerbaijan is Dutch. The trio Amy van der Wel, Luuk van Beers and Tony Cornelissen wrote the song Mata Hari, which is performed in May by female singer Efendi.

Van Beers was also the author of the song Cleopatra with which Efendi would go to Rotterdam last year. Cornelissen also has Songfestival experience. In 2013 he co-composed the song Glorious with which the German group Cascada went to the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Azerbaijani entry is the fourth Songfestival song with a Dutch touch. After Jeangu Macrooy for the Netherlands, the Dutch-Greek Stefania is released for Greece and Arcade producer Wouter Hardy is co-responsible for the submission of Switzerland. The latter is now top favourite for the final win at the bookmakers. Hardy can win the Song Contest for the second time in a row.
