The 21-year-old Dutchman who would have beaten his girlfriend to death in Lisbon last Saturday, was already suspected of domestic violence. The Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã writes that the victim to the police in the Netherlands had reported several reports of domestic violence by her partner.
The 20-year-old woman from Enschede died in the hospital on Saturday after being seriously abused, presumably by her boyfriend. Probably a fight arose because the couple had been expelled from a hostel due to nuisance. Justice in Portugal suspects the Dutch man of having killed his girlfriend with multiple blows. He would have kicked her to the head too.
The couple lived together in Enschede for several months last year. The woman would have reported domestic violence a few times to the police. RTV Oost, who spoke to the suspects brother, writes that the man in Hengelo was accompanied by a problem youth institution.
Since September, the two have lived in Lisbon, where they both had a job. They were engaged and shared an apartment. For a week or two, they stayed at a hostel for unclear reasons.
The Dutchman himself called the police after the incident and was arrested on the spot. He was educated last Monday and has to stay in custody.
