ED: PSV goes all-in again for Luuk de Jongs return

PSV will do everything in its power to bring Luuk de Jong back to Eindhoven next summer. With that news, the Eindhovens Dagblad will launch on Thursday evening. The long striker has been on the wish list at the Philips Stadium for some time and was also close to a comeback last year.
PSV is looking for a successor to the transfer-free departure Eran Zahavi and hopes that De Jong will be. The residents of Eindhoven are going to make full engagement on the arrival of the 31-year-old Achterhoeker, according to the regional newspaper. Technical manager John de Jong would even be willing to pay several million for the target man. Exactly how high that amount should be is unclear.
It probably wont be a cheap transfer. An investment is necessary because De Jong is under contract with Sevilla for another year after this season and they want to take advantage of the status that the striker has received after a year in Barcelona. In Camp Nou, he was mainly a substitute, but De Jong also scored a number of important goals and achieved cult status.
According to the ED, PSV is in conversation with the experienced target man
on a regular basis and that is not just about the club ambassadorship that was awarded to him in the past. At the Eindhoven offices, it is expected that De Jong will still be able to achieve 20 to 25 goals per season in the Eredivisie, as he did so often before.
Between 2014 and 2019, the Swiss-born Dutchman was already under contract at the Philips Stadium and worked his way up to attack leader and captain. In five seasons at PSV, De Jong scored 94 league goals and the hope is that after a return to Eindhoven he will be able to make a lot more.
