English press sees ‘horror start’ Ten Hag: ‘Rarely as daunting as today’

Erik ten Hag had imagined his start in England quite differently. The new Manchester United manager suffered his first defeat in the first round of the Premier League, at home against Brighton & Hove Albion. The English press is not impressed.
Pascal Gross floored United, with newcomers Lisandro Martรญnez and Christian Eriksen in the base, with two goals. โ€œA new season, but the same problems for United,โ€ the BBC responds. โ€œThere was optimism at Old Trafford. Ten Hag tries to convey his personality to its players. But all the old problems are still there.โ€
The Guardian speaks of a horror start. โ€œShining sun, blue sky, high temperatures: there was a clear buzz in the air. Maybe even, if you were really looking for it, a sense of optimism. And thats when the competition started. The past few years have seen many daunting days for Manchester United, but few days have been as daunting as this one. Brighton should have won more widely. New dawn? Same Gold United.โ€

โ€œWhat should we say about United?โ€ , asks The Daily Mail. โ€œIt might be good to bring in the end of the previous season. That included this desperate, dysfunctional display. With Ten Hag, United has a new manager and who knows what he can improve. At the moment, however, he has access to largely the same group of players who failed under Rangnick and Solskjaer. So why should you expect a different result?
The Telegraph talks about a
stinker, while Manchester United was severely disappointing, according to Sky Sports. The Ten Hag team was rightly defeated by Brighton. Fluent football with clever position changes, this was the football promised at Old Trafford. But the opponent played it. After a promising preparation, the supporters expected much more than this.
