Moroccos national team has left the unsafe Guinea. The Atlas Lions were trapped in the African country, because the World Cup qualifier they would play there did not go through because of the unrest and the road to the airport was dangerous.
Several sources now report that the selection has left safely from Guinea. Players and staff were stuck in the hotel for a long time and federal coach Vahid Halilhodzic (pictured above) already talked about gunshots that could be heard constantly. There is a coup in the country and that was already reason for FIFA to remove the game from the program.
Returning to Morocco didnt just work out. The violence in the capital Conakry has not made it easy to travel to the airport, but it has reportedly managed to leave the hotel and get on a plane. That would have been arranged by Royal Air Maroc and the Moroccan king.
The selection of the Atlas Lions is home to many well-known names. For example, stars such as Achraf Hakimi and Youssef En-Nesyri were part of the party, but also NECer Souffian El Karouani and AZ attacker Zakaria Aboukhlal. With Sofyan Amrabat, a former Eredivision player was also part of the Halilhodzic electoral corps.
Moroccan selection including Amrabat, Aboukhlal and El Karrouani has just left safely from Guinea. Plane arranged by the King and Royal Air Maroc.
