Error Festival around Boeing 737 MAX

On Wednesday, a committee of the US House of Representatives issued a devastating report on the developments surrounding Boeings 737 MAX aircraft. It is not only the aircraft manufacturer who is getting away with it, but also the American aviation authority FAA.

The 250-page report came about after an 18-month investigation by the Committee on Transport and Infrastructure. Boeing failed in the design and development of the MAX and the FAA failed in the supervision of Boeing and the certification of the aircraft, is the conclusion.

The 737 MAX was Boeings best selling aircraft until two aircraft crashed shortly after each other at the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019. This was due to problems with the control system.

But according to the committee, accidents were not the result of a single fault. They were the appalling accumulation of a series of incorrect technical assumptions by Boeing engineers, a lack of transparency on the part of Boeings management, and severely inadequate supervision by the FAA
