A migrant camp was cleared on the Greek island of Samos after a fire broke out. Although the camp would close soon, there were some 550 people in attendance. There have been no injuries as far as known.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The fire is said to have started in a few vacant buildings on the property. Photos show that the camps tents have been lost in particular.
The camp was once the shelter for 7500 migrants who stayed there under terrible conditions. Most of them had already been transferred to a new camp, which opened yesterday on the Greek island. The move should be completed on Wednesday.
After the fire, the remaining residents gathered in a clearing near the camp. Ten single youngsters have already been transferred to the new camp.
