Excelsior brings three Champion shields and leading position from Emmen

Excelsior has the back dish after missing out on the first period title in the Kitchen Champion Division. The Kralingers conclude the Saturday as a frontrunner, after winning the top performer against FC Emmen: who other than Thijs Dallinga became the match winner at the Oude Meerdijk on Saturday night.
Dallinga debuted as a pro at FC Emmen in 2017 and returned in Excelsior‘s shirt on Saturday, with two Bronze Champion Shields in his pocket. The top scorer and best player of the first period made his tenth of the season after half an hour of play: Dallinga was in the right spot and headlined a measured cross by Marouan Azarkan beyond Michael Brouwer.
Emmen had been given the best odds at the time, but Excelsior was also able to have the best goalkeeper of the first period. Stijn van Gassel parked bets of Jari Vlak and Azzeddine Toufiqui and rescued flashy after halftime on a shot by Rui Mendes.
Excelsior was aiming for the counter in the final phase, but could not benefit from space, leaving the match exciting until the final whistle. Partly due to an overturn in the extra time โ€” due to Excelsior’
s showy time stretches โ€” the game went out even longer, but the 0-1 remained on the signs. Excelsior comes at nineteen points and is now allowed to wait and see if De Graafschap will be equal on Sunday night.
