Extreme heat in Canada: more than 100 forest fires

Canada is going to deploy the military to extinguish more than a hundred forest fires. The army is going to help the fire brigade with planes and some 350 soldiers.

Dozens of forest fires are expected to join this weekend, including lightning strikes.

50 degrees

For about a week its been extremely hot in much of the United States and Canada. In some places its almost 50 degrees, like in the Canadian village of Lytton. Thats where it even got so hot that a fire occurred. Almost the whole village burned down.

The heat is shifting further inland. There, too, fires cause great damage.

How many people are victims of the fires is not exactly known. Soldiers and other auxiliary forces are trying to save as many homes as possible and bring people to safety.
