Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano shared news about Brian Brobbey on the late Thursday evening. The nineteen-year-old Ajax striker would have reached a personal agreement with RB Leipzig.
Brobbey can leave Amsterdam transfer-free after this season. Ajax has been trying to extend his commitment for quite some time, but the talks were terminated in early February. Ajax secretly hoped that Brobbey would sign up after all, and Davy Klaassen talked at rush hour every day. However, it seems that the Amsterdammers are definitely fishing behind the net, witness the characteristic ‘here we go’. Jan Joost van Gangelen has now informed ESPN that Brobbey will sign for four years.
The nineteen-year-old Amsterdammer with Ghanaian roots made a name for himself in the youth programme and made his debut in the Eredivisie this season. Brobbey scored directly against Fortuna Sittard and did the same against Willem II at the end of January, but worked mainly in the Europa League on his statistics. In the away match against Lille OSC he made the winning 1-2 for Ajax, Thursday night he also scored against BSC Young Boys.
In Leipzig, Brobbey could meet one Dutchman. Justin Kluivert is rented from AS Roma, but Die Roten Bullen have a purchase option.
Brian Brobbey to RB Leipzig, here we go! He‘s leaving Ajax and he’ll be joining Leipzig as a free agent starting from next season. The agreement on personal terms has been reached and Brobbey will play in Bundesliga. 🔴🇳🇱 #RBLeipzig #transfers
