The well-known U.S. pastor and civil rights activist Jesse Jackson (79) has been hospitalized with a corona infection. This is evidenced by a statement released on Saturday (local time) by the Rainbow/Push organization he founded. His wife Jacqueline (77) is also included.
Jackson and his wife are being treated in a hospital in Chicago, USA. According to the statement, doctors monitor them there. More is not known about their condition at the moment.
The pastor has been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. In January, he received his first dose publicly.
Jackson gained fame as a vicar and civil rights activist in the sixties of the last century. Among other things, he worked with Martin Luther King, who was his mentor. Jackson also voted for the Democratic primaries for the US presidency twice: in 1984 and 1988.
