American top immunologist Anthony Fauci welcomes the energetic approach to coronavirus by newly elected President Joe Biden. Fauci praises his new boss “for letting science speak.”
Thursday, on his first full working day as president, Biden announced an increased effort in the fight against the virus. He wants to achieve this by, among other things, increasing the number of tests and vaccinations and by promoting the wearing of mouthcaps.
The 80-year-old Fauci was already associated with several governments as an immunologist, including that of Bidens predecessor Donald Trump. He thinks that life in his country can return to normal in the autumn if it succeeds in having 70 to 80 percent of the population vaccinated by that time.
The new President has promised that 100 million vaccinations will be available during the first hundred days of his term of office. Until Thursday, 17.5 million people have received a shot and 38 million doses of vaccine have been distributed, reports the Federal Health Service CDC.
In the United States, more than 409,000 people have died of Covid-19 disease and more than 24 million people are infected with the lung virus.
