FC Barcelona let Ivan Rakitic leave for Seville. The 32-year-old Croat did not appear in the plans of the new coach Ronald Koeman.
The midfielder already played for Sevilla between 2011 and 2014 and so returns to the old nest. With the Europa League-winner Rakitic will be a teammate of Luuk de Jong and others. He has signed a contract for four years.
According to Barcelona, Sevilla has transferred 1.5 million euros. That amount can rise to a maximum of 9 million euros due to bonuses and premiums.
Four national titles and the Champions League
At Barcelona, Rakitic won a total of thirteen prizes in six seasons, including four national titles and once the Champions League. In the 2015 Champions League final against Juventus (3-1), Rakitic scored the opening goal.
In total, he played 310 games for the Catalans, in which he was good for 35 goals and 42 assists.
