Antoine Griezmann has finally got his way at FC Barcelona. The club handed him back number 7 on Friday. Griezmann had been lurking there for a while now.
Griezmann used to wear number 17 at Barcelona, where he would have preferred 7 from the start. However, it was in the possession of Philippe Coutinho. As the Brazilian left for Bayern Munich, Griezmann saw his chance clean, but the Spanish federation does not allow players to change numbers during the season.
Now Griezmann has had his way. He will get the back number he wore at Real Sociedad, except for the first season, and Atlético Madrid. According to SPORT, Griezmanns wish is now coming true.
It also seems that trainer Ronald Koeman has a more important role in mind for Griezmann than he had until now in Barcelona. The Frenchman played on the flanks, or even sat on the bench, while he is originally a false nine.
