FC Groningen can leave Eindhoven with head raised despite defeat

PSV has won a (ultimately) simple victory at FC Groningen at Philips Stadium. In their own house, Roger Schmidts team had a half hard time with the visitors, but in the second half it was put in order: 5-2.
PSV is normally struggling with Groningen and that was no different Saturday night. Even though the beginning of the Eindhoveners was very promising. Cody Gakpo left goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh no chance with a flaming shot that ended up in the goal through both poles.
Then followed a very weak phase for PSV where the defense didn
t look good. Miscommunication in the back of the back enabled Cyril to equate Ngonge soon after an unfortunate intervention by Ibrahim Sangarรฉ. Not much later, Ngonge scored again, now after bad intervention by PSV goalkeeper Joรซl Drommel. Although Groningen got the most chances and was the most dangerous, PSV quickly managed to repair the damage through a header by Andrรฉ Ramalho, who also made the 3-2 for his team during the injury time.
Groningen offered quite a bit of opposition in the first half, but in the second half was unable to make the PSV really difficult again. Eran Zahavi made 4-2 after a beautiful pass by Gakpo ten minutes after the break, making it particularly difficult for trainer Danny Buijss team.
The difference was
only two, but Groningen could no longer create the danger from the first half. And so it was a matter of playing football for PSV. In the closing minute of injury time, invader Bruma beautifully made it 5-2 more. The Eindhoveners will proudly lead in the Eredivisie after three games. Groningen stands eighth.
