FC Groningen reinforces itself with an old acquaintance. Defender Mike in Wierik immediately comes over from Derby County, which is released at the second level in England.
That is while Te Wierik walked the opposite way six months ago. After three seasons at the Pride of the North, 28-year-old Hengevelder left the club last summer to embark on a foreign adventure.
Te Wierik chose Derby County, but it wasn‘t successful. He landed on a siding and almost didn’t get to play with The Rams.
The central defender signs a contract in Groningen for three and a half years. Between 2017 and 2020, Te Wierik played 89 duels for Groningen, he also wore the captain band. Previously, he played for Heracles Almelo.
In addition, the club announced that 19-year-old defender Thomas Poll will finish the season at FC Dordrecht. He is rented and hopes to gain more experience in the Kitchen Champion Division.
