Fernando Alonso will meet on Tuesday at the Barcelona circuit with the Formula One car of his new employer Renault, who will be living as Alpine next year.
The 39-year-old Spaniard will be able to test a day in Catalonia in preparation for the next season, when he will form a duo with Esteban Ocon at the French racing stable. Daniel Ricciardo, last weekend at the Nürburgring still good for a third place, leaves for McLaren.
“ Its going to be incredible to drive a Formula 1 car after two years,” says Alonso. I remember my first test on behalf of Benetton (old Renault, red.). That was in 2000, also on the Barcelona circuit. Im ready, but I already know that Im going to come across a lot of new things. I can only learn from that.”
Alonso made his first Formula One debut with Minardi in 2001, and two years later he switched to Renault. With this team, he became World Champion in both 2005 and 2006. In the years that followed, however, he was never more successful on behalf of McLaren and Ferrari than then.
the end of 2018, Alonso left the king class to focus on completing the Triple Crown, which means winning the Monaco Grand Prix, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Indy 500
Monaco in 2006 and 2007, and already during his F1 career he made a successful trip to Le Mans. The Indy 500 drove Alonso three times (2017, 2019 and 2020), but the stage was always out of reach for the man from Oviedo.
