Feyenoord have the fifth reinforcement of the season with João Carlos Teixeira. The 27-year-old player comes over from the Portuguese Vitória Guimarães.
The technically skilled offensive midfielder was under contract with his previous club for another year. He signed a contract at De Kuip for two years, with an option on another season.
Feyenoord coach Dick Advocaat has expressed his wish for reinforcements several times lately. In addition to Teixeira, Rotterdam club Mark Diemers, Bryan Linssen, Christian Conteh and Francesco Antonucci (who will be leased to FC Volendam this season) have already attracted.
On record as a great talent
In the youth of Sporting Portugal Teixeira was seen as a great talent, reason for Liverpool to bring him to England in 2012. There he didn’t get further than eight matches and rental periods at Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.
The English adventure broke down in the summer of 2016, after which Teixeira left for FC Porto. Two seasons later, after having been rented out to SC Braga, among others, he made the transition to Vitória.
Teixeira went through all national youth teams, but did not yet play A-interland for Portugal.
