Marouan Azarkan can also leave Feyenoord on rent in the coming season. The twenty-year-old wing-forward is in the interest of Excelsior, FC Utrecht and the French PhD candidate Toulouse, reports 1908.nl.
Azarkan was already active for Excelsior last season. With thirteen goals and eleven assists, he made his mark on the game of the Kralingers, who promoted to the Eredivisie at ADO The Hagues expense. Before it can be rented out again, Azarkan must renew his contract first. His current commitment ends next year.
Feyenoord wants to go longer with Azarkan, 1908.nl knows, but an opportunity in the main force of coach Arne Slot does not seem to be in place yet. Excelsior and Utrecht hope to benefit, but there has also been talk with the Toulouse of Branco van den Boomen and Stijn Spierings.
Azarkan recently announced in conversation with VoetbalPrimeur that he is happy with his development over the past year. “What the trainer (Slot, ed.) asks of an outdoor player from Feyenoord is what I worked on a lot at Excelsior. Switching was never really my strong suit, but if you want to play in De Kuip you will have to do that too. I worked hard on that”, he said.
