FIA reviews political message Lewis Hamilton

Motor sport federation FIA looks at the situation around Lewis Hamilton before and after the Tuscany Grand Prix. Reason is the T-shirt the reigning world champion wore on Sunday. According to the FIA there is no official investigation (yet).

On Hamiltons shirt (35) was the text: Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor. On the back sermon: Say her name with a picture of Taylor. The Mercedes driver refers to a 26-year-old American woman, who was shot and killed by the police in March.

I wanted to wear this and make people aware of the fact that people are being murdered on the streets and this time even in their own homes. While they were in the wrong house. The men who did that are still at large,” Hamilton said after his victory over Mugello. We cannot rest. We must continue to raise awareness in others”

In Formula 1 this season, the fight against racism is the focus of attention before every race. All drivers wear an end racism shirt, except Hamilton, who wore a black lives matters shirt until the last race. Partly due to the active role of the British in the social debate, Mercedes is driving black cars this year. Because the six-time world champion now had a message for the US police, this can be seen as a political statement and the FIA could possibly give him a fine.
