FIFA Ignores ‘Not Surprised ‘Courtois: ‘Coming Through A Month Ago’

The name of Thibaut Courtois is missing from the shortlist for The Best FIFA Mens Goalkeeper Award. The Real Madrid goalkeeper is not very surprised.
Courtois saw it coming after he made himself angry about the crowded playing calendar a month ago. โ€œFootball is just about the money, we have to be honest about that,โ€ he said. โ€œThey (FIFA and UEFA, ed.) don
t care about players. Only their money counts. Really sad. When can we rest? We are not robots.โ€
โ€œIm not going to comment on why I wasnt nominated this time, but Im not surprised,โ€ Courtois said at the press conference for the Champions League game to FC Sheriff. โ€œI think its because of something I said a month ago. Theres no more to say about it. Individual prices are not important anyway.โ€
The FIFA award for the best goalkeeper in the world will go to Alisson Becker (Liverpool), Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester City), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea) or Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain) this year.
