Darter Michael van Gerwen still hasn’t got his big shape. The Dutchman thought he was out of shape on Friday after a victory, but on Saturday he suffered another defeat in the Premier League in the eleventh round of play. Welshman Gerwyn Price was 8-4 too strong for Van Gerwen.
It was for the five-time champion and defending champion his third defeat in four laps and the fifth in total. The Dutch number one of the world now occupies the fifth place in the standings. Van Gerwen throws on Sunday during the twelfth game evening against the Englishman Michael Smith.
Class leader Glen Durrant had to settle for a draw against Gary Anderson (7-7). Nevertheless, the Englishman still has a four-point lead over number two Nathan Aspinall.
The Premier League was six out of seventeen rounds of play when the competition was interrupted due to the coronavirus. The league is now catching up with six consecutive rounds behind closed doors in Milton Keynes. The last round is Sunday.
