Finer Saturday than Sunday for lyrical Van Hanegem: ‘Outside category, the two’

The cup final between Vitesse and Ajax was a disappointing closing track for Willem van Hanegem after a beautiful football week. De Kromme did not enjoy the final battle in De Kuip, he writes in his column for the Algemeen Dagblad.
When David Neres made the winning goal just before, Van Hanegem was relieved. โ€œNot because I wanted Ajax to win the cup so badly. But I didn‘t have to think about having to watch Vitesse against Ajax for another half an hour. I found very little about it,โ€ he concludes. ‘I don‘t think even my friend Sjaak Swart will look back at this game of the week, because it just wasn’t good.
De Kromme liked a lot better on the football Saturday: first it was Hakim Ziyech who shot Chelsea to the FA Cup finals, then Frenkie de Jong excels in the Copa del Rey finals won by FC Barcelona. ‘
Nice to see that Frenkie de Jong played so strong again. Like I also enjoyed Hakim Ziyech at Chelsea versus Manchester City. These two boys belong to the outside category, they always come up again,โ€ says Van Hanegem, who also compliments Barรงa-trainer Ronald Koeman. โ€œWhen Ronald Koeman started there, it seemed like pulling a dead horse. But how he did it, I don‘t know exactly, but they really play football, win and even become champions. ‘
Van Hanegem also sat at the tip of his chair: he saw Paris Saint-Germain deal with Bayern Munich in an intense Champions League diptych. ‘Also outside category. Those games against Bayern Munich, that was really great. And then I can also enjoy a young boy from Purmerend who was laughed at when he signed a contract there, ‘he refers to Mitchel Bakker. The left-back did not impress much on the French press, but it was able to please De Kromme. ‘Then you should immediately come into the picture at Oranje. Why not? There’s definitely future in that boy.โ€
