First Barcelona constellation known under Koeman: Messi starts, De Jong doesnt

Ronald Koeman will make his unofficial debut on Saturday as coach of FC Barcelona, which has announced the line-up for the practice match with Gimnàstic de Tarragona. Star player Lionel Messi has stayed on after a noisy transfer summer and starts in the base: Frenkie de Jong has fallen outside the first eleven. Routine Sergio Busquets and the talented Carles Aleñá are the central midfielders in Koeman’s line-up. Messi, together with Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembélé and seventeen-year-old newcomer Pedri, will provide the attacking impulses. Dembélé was offside almost the whole year, but is back in the team.
Pedri, who came over from Las Palmas, is the only newcomer to Koeman’s team: Luis Suárez dropped out of the squad, but the team is mainly made up of veterans. Reserved goalkeeper Neto replaces the injured Marc-André ter Stegen: Sergi Roberto, Gerard Piqué, Clément Lenglet and Jordi Alba stand in front of him.
Barça kicks off at 19.00 hours against the third divisionist. The Catalans will start the competition against Villarreal on 27 September.
