After 172 professional football days the first match in Dutch professional football was won by FC Eindhoven. The Brabanders won at Sportcomplex Zoudenbalch 2-1 by Jong FC Utrecht.
The first goal since the coronapause came in the name of Kaj de Rooij. The nineteen-year-old outdoor player, who can look forward to interest from PSV, FC Utrecht and NAC Breda among others, rounded off a fast counter and beautiful action effectively.
After half-time Jong FC Utrecht came back with a goal from Tim Pieters. A penalty kick from 19-year-old Lorenzo van Kleef, hired by ADO Den Haag, gave Eindhoven back the lead in the 70th minute and the visitors did not give it away again.
SC Cambuur and NEC will start their season’s overture at 9pm. The Friesians are with De Graafschap favourite for the title.
