Nadine Visser maintained her unbeaten status this year in the semi-finals of the NK athletics in Utrecht.
With playful ease, they positioned themselves for the final of the 100 meter hurdles in 12.97 seconds. Never before had they run that hard on an NK. The previous championship record dates from 1985 and was 13.01 in the name of Marjan Olyslager.
Visser preys on a special ‘double’ on athletics track Maarschalkerweerd. On Saturday the Dutchman surprisingly captured the Dutch title in the 100 meters (11.25) and wants to add the gold to her specialty on Sunday.
Richard Douma won his third Dutch title in a row in the 1500 meters. In an exciting final the Zaandammer managed to stay just ahead of his big rivals Thijmen Kupers and Mike Foppen. Douma won in 3.45,43.
On Saturday Foppen had won the title in the 5,000 meters and was keen on a unique double. He nestled himself at the front and hoped to break his competitors, but in the final stretch to the finish Douma and Kupers still got over him.
