A floating solar park near the Frisian town of Nij Beets came loose last night due to bad weather and was partly hit ashore. The extent of the damage is not yet known.
Energiebedrijf GroenLeven, one of the developers of the solar park, makes an inventory of the damage and tries to repair it as soon as possible. “I can currently say that no panels have been hit in the water”, says a spokesman to Omrop Fryslân.
The park with 33,000 solar panels was in the final construction phase and had not yet been connected to the grid. Next week, the temporary anchoring was to be converted into permanent anchoring. The park would then also be put into use.
It is not known how long it will take for the park to deliver energy.
