Flooding death toll China incurred to 302, 11 billion euros damage

The death toll of major floods in Henan Province in Central China rose above 300, and last Friday the counter stood at 99 deaths.

According to Henan authorities, 302 are dead now and 50 more are missing. Most people would have died from floods and mud flows.

According to the authorities, about 250,000 hectares of land was destroyed by abundant rainfall. The damage is estimated at over 90 billion yen, about 11.7 billion euros.

The weather was caused by Hurricane In-Fa, and according to the official news agency Xinhua, more than 600 millimetres of precipitation fell in three days. For comparison, three weeks ago, 150 millimetres fell in two days in some places in Limburg.
