Justin Kluivert makes his minutes this season for RB Leipzig, which hires him from AS Roma. The attacker indicates that he is not desperately trying to prove that he is better than his father and looks back on his time in Ajax‘s youth education.
The link with his father is quickly established by many people, but Kluivert indicates that it is not an issue for him. “For me personally, there is no extra pressure, because I am not desperately trying to prove that I am better than my father,” he says in an interview with Sportbuzzer. “My father knows what concerns me. It’s like he sees his own career in me. If I don‘t do something right, he says it to me, too. Then he gives me tips on what to do differently and better.”
Kluivert looks back on his time in the youth training of Ajax. “When I was young and still played with Ajax, my father was there for a long time. I didn’t play football because of him, but because I‘m a good football player myself,” he says confidently. “For many people it seemed like I was with Ajax, because my father was there too. That’s always motivated me. I wanted to show the world that this is my own merit. I owe to my own qualities that I am now where I am.”
