Forest fires in California are getting bigger and bigger

The forest fires in the state of California are spreading. The fires are caused by thousands of lightning strikes. And because of the dry and warm weather, the fire spreads quickly.

400 fires

Lightning caused almost 400 fires this week. Houses have been destroyed and large areas of nature are on fire.

10,000 firefighters

Over ten thousand firefighters are trying to fight the fire. Here you can see how a car from the emergency services drives through the fires:

The fire department hasn’t got the fire under control yet. Tens of thousands of people have therefore been taken to a safer place. The California fire brigade has also requested help from other American states.
